Youngstown, Ohio (and the Mahoning Valley in general) is a must-visit location when it comes to fall-themed family-friendly events and unique activities! We’ve got world-class farmers markets, nationally recognized corn mazes, and much more! So grab your calendar, and start planning all the fun things you want to be a part of this fall season!

Boardman
Rotary Oktoberfest 2022

The Boardman Rotary Oktoberfest has grown from a small community gathering to one of the biggest arts and crafts shows in northeast Ohio, with vendors and visitors from multiple surrounding states – PLUS, admission is only $5!

Oktoberfest 2022 takes place on Sunday, October 2, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Boardman Township Park. 

Canfield Fall Market 2022

Canfield’s annual Fall Market, sponsored by the Junior Women’s League of Canfield, features the work of over 175 artists and crafters and takes place on the Village Green in the center of Canfield

The 2022 Fall Market is scheduled for Saturday, September 17 from 9 am to 4 pm. For more information, take a look at their Facebook page

Old-Fashioned Christmas in the Woods

Shaker Woods, located in Columbiana, Ohio, is known far and wide for its Christmas in the Woods craft shows. This annual fall fest features more than 200 artisans from across the nation creating unique handcrafted items. You’ll find vendors making apple butter, live entertainment and old-world juried artisans showing off their craftsmanship. 

Christmas in the Woods takes place over two weekends: October 8-9, and 15-16, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Admission is $10 per day, and children 12 and under are free.

Maze Craze
Corn Maze

The best corn maze in all of Ohio and Pennsylvania is located right outside of Youngstown in New Springfield, OH. Maze Craze was featured as one of USA Today’s top ten corn mazes in 2018 and 2021. Every year the 21-acre corn maze has a new theme — for 2022, it’s Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book.

Enjoy all sorts of family fun while you’re there: straw pyramids, sunflowers, corn boxes, corn hole, wood cut-outs for photos, gemstone mining, a corn cannon, kiddie zipline, hayrides, barrel train rides, and a tire playground, just to name a few. The season runs from September 16 through November 6, with ticket prices at $10 for guests 5 years and older. For more information, visit the Maze Craze website

The Pumpkin Walk at Fellows Riverside Gardens

Taking a walk through Fellows Riverside Gardens is amazing any time of the year, let alone a stroll through the Garden’s pumpkin-lined paths as night falls down around you! Bring the whole family for fun activities and be sure to visit Scarecrow Lane in the new Children’s Garden. Fellows Riverside Gardens’ entrance is located off of McKinley Ave. on Youngstown’s West Side. 

The event goes from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday, October 16. Have fun carving pumpkins for the event at their Pumpkin Carving on October 14. For upcoming event details, follow the Mill Creek MetroParks Facebook page. 

White House Fruit Farm Fall Harvest Weekends

It’s fall harvest festival time at White House Fruit Farm — time to stop out and enjoy all of the farm goodies they have to offer!

Visitors to White House Fruit Farm can enjoy activities like horse drawn wagon rides, a children’s petting zoo, and picking your own pumpkins from the pumpkin patch! Don’t forget all of the fresh produce, and plenty of apple cider and homemade donuts

Fall harvest weekends take place every Saturday and Sunday from September 10 through October 23, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The farm’s outdoor activities are subject to change, so check their Facebook page to stay up-to-date. 

Fall Weekends at Molnar Farms

If you’ve never seen Molnar’s straw art creations, you’re missing out! In addition to their yearly Instagram-worthy Halloween display, Molnar Farms (located in Poland) also offers a variety of family-friendly activities: a corn maze, hayrides through the farm, pumpkin picking, world-famous cinnamon rolls and more! Fall Weekends take place every Saturday and Sunday in October, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturdays and 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sundays.

You can’t let the kiddos have all the fun this fall! The Vineyards at Pine Lake (a must-see when it comes to local wineries) is on-top of their game when it comes to fun fall activities for adults!

Hallovine Scavenger Hunt

Grab your friends and book your spot for the 4th annual Hallovine Scavenger Hunt! Adventure through the vines to find the hidden objects. Oh, and did we mention that the cost includes the hunt, 12 wine samples, a t-shirt and more? This unique event takes place on Sunday, October 9 and Sunday, October 23, starting promptly at 5 p.m. Cost is $40 per person.

A Nightmare on Market St. Halloween Party

Put on your halloween party mask and join the Vineyards for their very first adult halloween party! Cost includes heavy hors d’oeuvres, desserts, live entertainment, a costume contest and more! A Nightmare on Market St. is slated for Friday, October 28 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Cost is $45 per person.

Dinner & Detectives

In collaboration with The Dinner Detective of Cleveland, The Vineyards is bringing guests an evening filled with murder, mystery and more! Enjoy a buffet dinner, watch as the evening’s crimes unfold, take notes and work to solve the case! Dinner & Detectives takes place on Saturday, November 12 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Live Music, Shows and Sporting Events

Just because fall’s here doesn’t mean the music stops! There’s no need to drive to Cleveland, Akron, Columbus or Canton for special events when there’s amazing music right here in the Mahoning Valley!  

We’ve got hip-hop (Ja Rule), metal (Lamb of God), country (Lee Brice, Walker Hayes, Travis Tritt and Jake Owen), and even stand-up comedy (Bert Kreischer)! Take a look at our calendar of events to find the dates/times for this year’s amazing concert lineup!

Not a concert-goer but love sports? Youngstown is home to both the Youngstown State Penguins and the Youngstown Phantoms, a Tier I USHL junior hockey league team. Follow along with some of the best NCAA Division I-AA fall sports or catch a thrilling hockey match-up between some of the best high school hockey players – right here in our beloved Covelli Centre!

How about a brisk run in the cool autumn air? There are races taking place throughout the fall season, and participants will be able to enjoy the gorgeous fall foliage of Mill Creek MetroParks in the process! First, there’s the Green Cathedral Half Marathon on September 18, then we have the Youngstown Peace Race on October 9, and the Youngstown Marathon on October 23. Lace up and get moving!
