Explore and Learn at OH WOW! Children’s CenterOH WOW! Children's Center

At OH WOW! Children’s Center for Science and Technology, kids have the chance to expand their understanding of all-things-science through 11 galleries, complete with more than 60 interactive exhibits. Each exhibit is unique and features things like airplane building, weather reporting green screens, water systems and farm-to-table cooking. Families with kids ages 0 to 14 will love spending time together while the kids learn while playing. OH WOW! is open every day 10:00am-4:00pm, and until 8:00pm on Wednesdays (closed Christmas Day and New Year’s Day). Admission is $8 for adults and children. Kids under 2 years old are free. Seniors (65+), Educators, & Veterans are $7. OH WOW! will also be open as part of the First Night Youngstown celebration on December 31. Visitors with a wrist band can explore from 5:00pm-8:30pm.

 

YSU BasketballCheer On the Penguins at the Covelli Centre

If you’re a family of sports fans, mark your calendars for Saturday, December 21! At 1pm, the Youngstown State University men’s basketball team will take on West Virginia University for a special game inside the Covelli Centre. Not only will you have the chance to cheer on the Penguins, but you will also have the opportunity to enjoy the excitement of the YSU Pep Band and Dance Team. Stargaze at the Ward Beecher Planetarium Ward Beecher Planetarium

As part of Youngstown State University, the Ward Beecher Planetarium’s astronomy programs are free and open to the public. Now through December 21, visit the Planetarium for the “Let It Snow!” holiday music show. This 30-minute program celebrates the winter season as artistic impressions of holiday music come to life on the dome. Experience bells and reindeer, presents and cookies, snow and nutcrackers in colorful spectacles of fun!

 

Enjoy Disney on Ice in Youngstown

This December, Disney on Ice: DREAM BIG is coming to the Covelli Centre in downtown Youngstown! Treat the kids to a magical ice skating show, starring some of their favorite new and old Disney characters, including Moana, Elsa and Jasmine (to name a few). Visit the Covelli Centre website for ticket information. Performances include:

  • Thursday, December 26 at 7pm
  • Friday, December 27 at 7pm
  • Saturday, December 28 at 11am, 3pm and 7pm
  • Sunday, December 29 at 1pm and 5pm

 

Experience Exciting USHL Hockey

Cheer on the Youngstown Phantoms as they take on the Madison Capitols at the Covelli Centre. On Friday, January 3, puck drop is at 7:05pm. Enjoy free popcorn & cotton candy, and a $5 ticket for ages 12 & under. On Sunday, January 5, puck drop is at 5:05pm. Ages 12 & under receive a free ticket.

 

Make Memories with The World-Famous Harlem Globetrotters

The Harlem Globetrotters, featuring larger than life entertainers, will bring their ALL-NEW show, “Pushing the Limits” to the Covelli Centre on Saturday, January 4! Shows at 2pm & 7pm will feature a blend of hilarious hijinks and incredible basketball skills including ball handling, high flying dunks, and a new record-breaking attempt. The Harlem Globetrotters are a one-of-a kind experience putting a new spin on family time.

 

Extreme Air Trampoline ParkJump, Tag and Skate in Boardman

The Extreme Air Trampoline Park and Deep Freeze Ice Arena in Boardman is the perfect one-stop shop for a day of indoor, kid-friendly fun. Open Tuesday-Friday 3-9pm, Saturday 10am-11pm, and Sunday 10am-8pm (and also open on all school snow days), the Trampoline Park is home to over 10,000 square feet of custom trampolines, rock-climbing walls and a two-story laser tag facility. The on-site Ice Arena has an Olympic-sized ice rink available for both open skate and lessons. View the ice schedule, which is updated daily.
