How to Complete Snapshots of Youngstown – Fall 2020 in One Weekend

We’re giving away twenty $25 gift cards to Youngstown-area local businesses in exchange for photos of your travels throughout Mahoning County! Patronize our local businesses using the suggestions listed in the seven categories we’ve created. Select five of the seven categories that interest you the most, and take a photo of your experiences (please follow all recommended safety guidelines!). Then, simply submit your five photos through our entry form by October 31, 2020 and you will be entered to win! Need help getting started? Here are a few different ways you can explore Mahoning County and take all the photos you need in just one weekend!

Here’s a quick run-down of the categories. Remember, you will be submitting five photos total–one from each of the five categories you select from this list:

  • Let’s Eat: take pics of your meal at a local restaurant (dine-in or carry-out)
  • Treat Yourself: visit a local coffee shop, bakery or stop for ice cream and snap a pic
  • Relax: toast at a local winery or brewery or stroll through a museum
  • Locally Grown: take pics at a local farm market or produce stand
  • Retail Therapy: support a local boutique, gift shop or antique shop
  • Get Outdoors: enjoy the fall weather by biking, hiking, playing a round of golf or kayaking in a local park
  • Y-Town Landmarks: think – the Youngstown sign, Lanterman’s Mill, or anything that says “Youngstown” to you

Participate in Snapshots of Youngstown: Austintown

Start your journey with a scoop of ice cream at Handel’s in Austintown (who said dessert can’t come first?). Then, continue traveling down Mahoning Ave. for lunch at Coaches Burger Bar or Mojo’s Pub-N-Grill. Afterwards, stop in Paladin Brewing for a beer before exploring the unique antiques at Meander Hill. Continue traveling down US-224 for lunch on the heated patio at Giangelo’s Italian Restaurant or Stonebridge Grille & Tavern. Grab a cup of locally roasted coffee at Branch Street Coffee Roasters or High Octane Coffee Company, then complete your trip with a hike through the beautiful fall foliage at Mill Creek MetroParks. Once you’re done shopping, travel to Wean Park for a photo in front of the new Youngstown sign. Feeling hungry? Grab a bite to eat at nearby V2, Avalon Pizza, or The Mocha House. Afterwards, visit the world-renowned Butler Institute of American Art. Then head to Fellows Riverside Gardens to take a stroll through their display of pumpkins, scarecrows and cornstalks.
