Live music in Youngstown is always trending, whether you’re looking for an intimate performance or a big concert. Indie, punk, jazz, country or rock – the Youngstown area has it all. So, let’s check out some of the best venues featuring our favorite live bands!

Downtown Youngstown

Downtown Youngstown is jam-packed when it comes to restaurants and bars for unique eats and drinks… and there are just as many fun places to listen to live music!

Covelli Centre

Since October 2005, the Covelli Centre has hosted many sellout concerts like Elton John, Trans-Siberian Orchestra and Carrie Underwood. Concert capacity, depending on the set’s size, ranges from 6,300 to 7,000, providing an intimate atmosphere with a big-city feel.

The Youngstown Foundation Amphitheatre

A hot spot for music festivals and national entertainers, “The Amp” is a 4,800-person entertainment area with the backdrop of Youngstown’s impressive skyline. Country music, classic rock and R&B acts can be seen playing here all summer long.

The Amp is nestled within Youngstown’s 20-acre Wean Park, which hosts the annual Y-Live concert. It has a great view of the Covelli Centre, the Youngstown cityscape and of course the Amp.

DeYor Performing Arts Center

Widely recognized as one of the most beautiful venues in the Mahoning Valley, the DeYor Performing Arts Center is home to the Ford Family Recital Hall (a 600-seat venue) and Edward W. Powers Auditorium (a 2,300-seat venue).

Penguin City Brewing Company

A relative newcomer to the Youngstown entertainment scene, Penguin City Brewing Company is a unique location (a former warehouse) where patrons can enjoy a fresh brew and bold music.

The Greater Youngstown Area

Branching out from the downtown area, Youngstown has tons of options for musical entertainment, many of which have been repurposed as the city continues to renovate space.

Stambaugh Auditorium

Stambaugh Auditorium has been a fan favorite for entertainment since 1926, welcoming national and international acts for almost 100 years. Harmonies sound fantastic in the beloved Concert Hall, which has almost-perfect acoustics, and the building itself has plenty of additional space (perfect for banquets, receptions and elegant events).

West Side Bowl

Have you heard of West Side Bowl? Most people don’t think of a bowling alley as a hot spot for live music, but West Side Bowl has two stages, a full kitchen and a typically-packed dance floor (which all come together to make for a great time). As their site says, “Grab a bite to eat, enjoy a performance, a concert, and bowl as many frames as you can!”

Cedars West End

Well-known within the local music scene is Cedars West End, which holds themed nights for both music and food.

The Wickyards

Support local bands at this unique venue, conveniently located near YSU. Dubbed the “most unusual venue in Youngstown,” The Wickyards was at one time a funeral home.

Cricket’s Bar & Grille

Boardman’s Music Vibes

Sprinkled throughout the bustling Boardman roadways are some music venues that cater to Gen Zers and families alike!

Steel Valley Brew Works

A newer hotspot for entertainment is Steel Valley Brew Works. Located in the Southern Park Mall, you can enjoy live music with great food from the kitchen (or the occasional food truck). They even offer premium organic fair-trade coffee roasted on-site!

Boardman Township Park

Boardman Township Park hosts Music in the Park from June through August at the Maag Outdoor Arts Theatre. Those interested in attending are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets to reserve their spot (acts range from Boardman High School students to local jazz and big band groups).

Los Gallos

Austintown is close to both I-76 and State Route 46, so whether you’re in Mineral Ridge or Cleveland, it’s an easy drive for entertainment and a bite to eat.
